Track Measurement Fleet
Track inspection technologies play a crucial role in preventing derailments and enabling data-driven maintenance planning. Based on previous FRA research, ~40% of track problems are found by track geometry and rail profile measurement systems alone. By FRA 213 and Transport Canada Track Safety Rules, track class or speed limits are determined by track geometry.
400-Series GRMS TrackSTAR® Unit
Our largest and standard unit, the 400 Series, provides complete track geometry for gauge, cross level, surface and alignment channels in addition to detailed curve data and maximum speed along with rail profile, rail weight inventory and rail wear analytics. Unique to TrackSTAR® is the GRMS strength measurement data for identifying weak issue in track complying before static and dynamic track measurements giving a comprehensive assessment of your track condition to keep your track up and running safely and efficiently. The load axle on these vehicles can apply up to 15,000-pound vertical and 10,000-pound lateral loads to the track, generating L/V ratios between 0.5 and 1.25, depending on the actual applied loads. Loadings such as these, which replicate the type of loading that poorly performing
vehicles are likely to generate, provide a truer picture of what the track actually “sees” under explicit traffic conditions. This unit is ideal for freight and heavy haul lines, short lines as well as passenger and transit lines.
491 TTV Unit
Holland’s Transit Testing Vehicle, TTV 491, is a unique track testing vehicle engineered to specifically to accommodate the unique conditions of transit systems including broad gauge, tight clearances, and tight-radius curves (up to 70 degrees). This unit provides full geometry and rail profile readings as well as gauge face angle. Light load axle gives loaded gauge/strength testing that can identify poor ties and fasteners. This unit is ideal for passenger and transit lines.
650-Series TrackSTAR® Unit
Holland’s 650 Series provides track geometry and rail profile measurement data along with track strength information from our patented lightweight load axle in a medium duty package. This versatile testing vehicle has the flexibility you need to get a comprehensive assessment of your track condition to keep your track up and running safely and efficiently. This unit is ideal for short lines and industrialfacility tracks.
